Korea is a nation with a 5,000-year-long history.
About 100 years ago, the new age of imperialism was dominant all over the world.
As a result, Korea had to go through the savage repression and slaughter by the Japanese army during this tragic colonial period.
Because of the indomitable fighting spirit and the spirit of independence, Korea was finally liberated on August 15, 1945. To pay tribute to the memory of the deceased for freedom and national independence, the Independence Hall of Korea was built on August 15, 1987 with funds raised by voluntary donations.
Nestled in the middle of the Korean territory, the Independence Hall of Korea houses seven (7) exhibition halls, symbolic sculptures and outdoor statues on the 400㎢-wide beautiful land. Over 80,000 artifacts including the March 1st Independence Manifesto are on display. A variety of educational programs for foreigners as well as Koreans are available. Many other fun and informative events are often held there as well. To share the historical insights and knowledge of independence movement with foreign countries, international academic exchange activities have also been promoted.
Each nation has its own rich history of national independence of freedom. Come to the Independence Hall of Korea where the independent spirit of Korea comes alive and ruminate about the communal efforts and spirit for peace and human dignity.
